Stratford

The Town

Stratford is a small town in the Texas panhandle. It is comprised largely of desert and scrubby plains, with one or two creeks, and a man-made lake/reservoir nearby. The population of Stratford is 50, with Camp Hope and Camp Arkansas merging to form one cohesive group.

Newcomers: When first arriving newcomers given a hygiene kit including a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo and deodorant and other sanitary items necessary, depending on gender. If they are intending to stay the get a physical with Elijah and a briefing with Bob.

Children: There are 12 children under the age of 10 in the camp. They range in age from 6 months to 9 years. They are Caro, Abbie, Jack, Kira, Becca, Troy, Quinn, Ryan, Jared, Logan, Jessica, and Amanda.

Housing: The 'Shady Glen Apartments' in Stratford provide adequate housing for the residents of Camp Hope.

Electricity/Power: Minimal. There is full power to the Clubhouse (no AC, sorry) and only the apartments that have people living in them. All the other parts of the complex and town are dark. The only exception is the Dive Bar, which is fully powered as well. There is only one building with running water for showers/baths and toilets, and that is a house next to the Complex which has been converted into a bathhouse.

Food: The camp presently has no shortage of food, thanks to bountiful hunting, gardening, fishing and scavenging. Storage is a work in progress on multiple fronts, including canning, pickling, and smoking. Propane and charcoal grills are available for cooking.

Animals: There are animals being kept at a large farm on the outskirts of town. There are horses, cows, chickens, pigs and sheep. These are not for eating. They are to provide transport, milk and eggs. These were brought in from local farms. A feral animal is a dangerous animal.

Other groups: There are four other survivor camps in Texas. None are close by. They are in El Paso, Laredo, Waxahacie and Natural Bridge Caverns between Austin and San Antonio. The Reyes family had limited contact with these groups via traders. There are two traders that frequent Stratford, Caitlin and Noah.

Locals

The original population of Stratford, Texas was wiped out by the plague. There were no survivors. Early in May a family of illegal immigrants from Columbia settled into the town after living the life of nomads for a few months.
The Reyes family consists of their matriarch, Rosa, who is in her 80's at least, and 15 adults and 2 young children. They are all related in some form, cousins, in-laws, but no siblings amoungst the group.

In November an explosion ripped through the Reyes compound killing all the members except Anita and Lorenzo who were on their way to get the doctor from the Camp Hope group. It was soon discovered that the Others had planted an explosive device into a young child and sent her to the Reyes family.
